How to be more productive at work in the New Year?

New Years day are all about resolutions and a resolution to add to your list must include that of your workplace in being more productive. And if you want to check this resolution off your list by year-end, you need to get creative and find new ways to boost productivity.

Create a Successful Morning Routine.

Starting the morning with "good energy" is important for productivity. Your morning routine should be whatever leaves you feeling relaxed, energized, and motivated, whether that’s a 30-minute yoga class / exercise (that adds up an extra point in making exercise a part of your everyday routine), praying, scheduling your day, meditating, or whipping up a healthy breakfast.

Unplug in the Morning and the Evening.

“If you mindfully go on Instagram with a glass of wine, that’s fine, but you interrupt your focus when you check your phone during those in-between moments," says organizing consultant and author Julie Morgenstern. Which is exactly why, at the minimum, you should avoid using your devices during the first and last hour of each day.

Catch more Sleep

Chances are, you’ve probably taken sleep for granted at some point in your life. And the truth is, when you don’t get a good night’s sleep, you’re not the only one who suffers from it. Your productivity suffers from your lack of sleep, too.

With more sleep, you can enjoy better concentration, less stress, and fewer health problems down the road.

Do not be distracted by your phone.

Need a little help avoiding the temptation to check all those entertaining social media apps? In addition to turning off your notifications, you may find it helpful to change your phone's display to grayscale, which removes all color from the screen, reducing stimulation. For a more aggressive approach to unplugging, you could also download Flipd, a free app that allows you to lock your phone for a set period of time, so you can focus completely on your work or studying.

Take frequent breaks.

“If you don’t give your brain a break, you may end up in an internet rabbit hole instead of working,” We suggest incorporating short breaks into your workday. During that time, go for a walk, take the dogs outside, grab a cup of coffee or healthy snack, check in with a friend or family member, do a quick at-home workout, or listen to a new podcast.

Stay as Positive as Possible

When it comes to staying on track and being productive, you can’t be a negative Ned or Nancy. If you want to give yourself a productivity pick-me-up, you need positive vibes.

Positivity can help drive productivity. Forgive yourself if you make a mistake, you are human: Accept that you are sometimes going to slip up, become distracted and have a bad day. It’s more important to move on than to dwell on your mistakes. Being positive can turn you into one of those happy workers that enjoys a 12% more productive workday.

Lastly: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

It’s no secret that staying hydrated is an important part of being healthy. But, failing to stay hydrated (at work and at home) can quickly derail your productivity.

According to one study, individuals who drank enough water every day were 14% more productive at work. Become BFFs with H2O. Keep that water bottle filled to the brim, and keep chugging along with your work.
